Unit 1: Introduction & Overview: Components of HIT Systems

This unit is an introductory unit where the core definitions and concepts of systems in general and healthcare specifically are presented.  Using hands-on exploratory lab exercises, students will be introduced to an example HIT system where they will learn basic navigation and gain familiarity with components common to many clinical HIT systems. Specific examples of HIT systems from a variety of settings will be discussed.

This e-Seminar will cover how to develop your career in Health Informatics.

Speaker:

The seminar is hosted by Dr Chris Paton, a digital health researcher at Oxford University and Editor of the Health Informatics Forum. He is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Health Informatics and the UK Faculty of Clinical Informatics and worked as a medical doctor in the NHS and New Zealand before specialising in Clinical Informatics research at Oxford University. Dr Paton is Associate Editor for Sage Digital Health and BMC Medical Informatics and Decision Making journals.
